What is Counselling?

Counselling can mean lots of different things to different people.

At its core though, counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you to help you to understand and effectively manage your emotional issues.

It may be that you’re feeling upset, low or worried about something and just can’t shake the feeling.

You may feel ‘stuck’ at a point in life, and are unsure of the direction you want to go next.

Perhaps you’re tired of trying to please everyone else and need some time to consider your needs and wellbeing. Or maybe something just doesn’t feel right but you can’t quite figure out what and why that is.

We all have times in our lives when things don’t go the way we expect, plan or want them to.

It could be because something that happened in the past is happening now, or that you think it might happen in the future. Or it may be that you’ve experienced trauma either as an adult or a child and you want to address the ongoing impact.

Whatever it is, counselling could help you cope with what you are going through.
